New guide: Financial services for workers – A short guide for factory managers in Cambodia

A new practical guide has been released to help factory managers in Cambodia better support their workers in accessing safe and reliable financial services. Developed in collaboration with RISE, Financial services for workers: A short guide for factory managers in Cambodia provides clear and practical advice for workplaces seeking to improve financial inclusion among women and men workers.
Across Cambodia’s manufacturing sector, many workers still face barriers to accessing formal financial services such as bank accounts, digital payments, savings products and responsible credit. Limited access often leads workers to rely on informal or high-cost financial options, which can increase financial vulnerability and stress.
The newly released guide helps factory managers better understand how workplaces can support workers’ financial wellbeing. It provides a clear overview of key financial services available to workers and offers practical guidance on how these services can be accessed and used safely, responsibly and effectively.
A key focus of the guide is the importance of financial education. Access to financial services alone is not enough. Workers also need the knowledge and confidence to use these services effectively. By combining access to financial products with financial literacy initiatives, factories can help ensure that services are safe, relevant and beneficial for workers.
